What the result means
The calculator compares the normal Avios for the same travellers with the reduced Avios after applying a current Companion Voucher. Its pence-per-Avios result uses the cash fare you would otherwise pay, less the reward booking fees.
A high headline cash fare is only relevant if you would genuinely have bought it. Compare the same route, dates, cabin, baggage and flexibility. You can also use the Avios value calculator as a broader benchmark.
Eligibility and booking checks
- The voucher holder must travel and apply the voucher when booking.
- Reward-seat availability is required; a voucher does not make every seat bookable.
- Current vouchers can cover eligible British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus flights, subject to the voucher terms.
- Taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable for each person.
- Confirm the cabin restriction, issue date and expiry shown in your account.
Frequently asked questions
On an eligible Reward Flight, a current voucher can let a second traveller fly for no additional Avios or let the voucher holder travel solo for 50% of the Avios. Taxes, fees and carrier charges remain payable for each traveller.
A voucher earned with the Premium Plus card can be used in any cabin. The voucher earned with the free BA Amex is restricted to economy. Check the terms attached to your voucher before planning.
British Airways currently states 12 months for the free-card voucher and 24 months for the Premium Plus voucher. The relevant travel must be completed within the voucher validity period, subject to its terms.
