What changes the Avios price?

  • Route: longer journeys generally need more Avios.
  • Cabin: premium economy, business and First cost more than economy.
  • Date: BA peak and off-peak calendars can price outbound and return legs differently.
  • Payment option: BA may let you choose more Avios and less cash, or fewer Avios and more cash.
  • Airline: partner reward pricing and charges can differ.

How to calculate a return or family trip

Price each one-way sector, then multiply by the number of travellers. Add the displayed cash element for every passenger. If you have a voucher, use the Companion Voucher calculator after you have the normal per-person price.

Our route calculator covers the full destination list, while the examples below show how quickly the figures can diverge by cabin.

Frequently asked questions

There is no single amount. The destination, cabin, peak or off-peak date and Avios-and-cash option all affect the price. Use the route calculator for the current planning figure, then confirm live availability with British Airways.

The examples on this page and in the site calculator are one-way figures for one adult from London. For a simple return, calculate both dates because one leg can be peak and the other off-peak.

Yes. Reward Flights require Avios plus a cash amount for taxes, fees and carrier charges. British Airways may offer several combinations, so compare the total rather than the Avios headline alone.
